The subway and bus system in New York is extremely convenient, and she can go anywhere in the city she wants at any time. The subway will take her downtown if that is where she wants to go, and the buses will take her over a few blocks when she does not want to walk. The city is accessible to her at any time, and the public transportation moves so quickly that she need not purchase a car. Her life has become less expensive and more exciting at the same time.

Arlene fell in love with the city of New York because it allows her the isolated existence she wants in her small neighborhoods. She may get around easily, and she has access to parks that help her escape the city life.
